Nandi Senator Samson Cherarkey has filed a Senate motion seeking to withdraw or reduce the retirement benefits of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, citing his continued political involvement and criticism of the current administration. The motion, officially titled the 'Public Service Matters' motion, was filed on Tuesday and has triggered a strong reaction from the Jubilee Party. A Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has strongly defended former President Uhuru Kenyatta against accusations of funding the opposition and attempting to destabilize the current government. Former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has also advised the current government to cease using former President Uhuru Kenyatta as a scapegoat for its shortcomings. The push is seen as part of 2027 politics preparations.
