Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi announced that the recent fuel shortage has been resolved, attributing it to an administrative and technical hitch. However, Kenyans across the country, particularly in Nairobi and other major towns, continue to express widespread frustration over persistent fuel shortages with many petrol stations running dry. The private sector faced significant pressure in April as escalating fuel prices influenced by the Middle East conflict led to increased business expenses and a downturn in consumer spending. At the same time, Information and Communication Technology Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo stated that there is adequate fuel supply, contradicting reports of shortages.
