Former CJ Maraga arrested during Nairobi National Park protest - June 2026

Former Chief Justice David Maraga was reportedly arrested on Monday during protests against a controversial infrastructure project within Nairobi National Park. The protest is part of a nationwide matatu strike protesting rising fuel prices. The Saboti Member of Parliament, Cyrus Jirongo, has separately cautioned the Kenyan government against the establishment of an Ebola treatment facility, stating that it deliberately puts the lives of Kenyans at risk.
