Amazon Seeks CA Approval for Satellite Earth Station in Kenya - June 2026
Amazon Kuiper Kenya Limited, a subsidiary of the American tech giant, has applied for regulatory approval to establish a satellite earth station in Kenya, signaling intent to enter the country's growing satellite internet market. At the same time, OpenAI has confidentially filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for an initial public offering, intensifying its competition with rival Anthropic which also plans to go public. However, these tech expansion efforts face headwinds as the US has added major Chinese companies including electric vehicle maker BYD and tech giant Alibaba to a list of firms it alleges have ties to the Chinese military.
