Kenya's Health sector has received a significant boost in the 2026/27 budget, securing an allocation of Sh177.2 billion, which marks a substantial increase from the previous financial year. The health sector budget has seen a significant increase to Ksh177.2 billion for the 2026/27 financial year, a rise of Ksh39.1 billion, aimed at bolstering service delivery under Taifa Care and Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Challenges within the Strategic Health Authority (SHA) continue to raise concerns, even as the Kenyan health budget sees an increase. Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua has raised serious concerns about overcrowding and bed-sharing in public health facilities across Kitui County, warning of a significant threat to patient safety and infection control.
