The National Assembly passed the Finance Bill 2026 after a heated debate and electronic vote, with the Bill now awaiting President William Ruto's assent to become law. The Kenyan Parliament successfully completed a Third Reading vote, moving the bill closer to becoming law. The Association of Kenyans in Alberta (AKA) had strongly opposed tax proposals in Kenya's Finance Bill 2026 that would increase tax and compliance burdens on rental income earned by Kenyans living abroad.
