Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has ordered police to protect peaceful protesters on June 25, while vowing to quell any violent demonstrations, amid heightened security preparations for the anniversary of the deadly 2024 protests. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is actively investigating politicians accused of planning to disrupt planned protests on June 25, with several individuals already arrested. Human rights activist Bob Njagi has been arrested in Kajiado County on suspicion of inciting public members ahead of the planned protest. Meanwhile, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) is urging protestors to protect businesses during the upcoming Gen Z demonstrations, while Senator Dan Maanzo has criticized President Ruto regarding ongoing incidents of abductions and killings of youth.
