The Director of Public Prosecutions has approved 16 counts of murder against suspects in the deadly arson incident at Utumishi Girls Academy which occurred on May 28, 2026, claiming 16 lives. The DPP has vowed firm action following a review of evidence by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). In a related development, the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) condemned the All Saints attack and warned against rising goonism in the country. Separately, Aden Duale reportedly avoided a jail sentence after allegedly violating a court order related to an Ebola testing center in Nanyuki.
