Kenya's Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen defended the deployment of plain-clothes police officers during the June 25 Gen Z memorial protests, stating they were part of a surveillance operation to maintain order and that it is a standard security protocol. Murkomen has strongly refuted claims by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that his life is in danger, dismissing them as attention-seeking behavior and ethnic profiling. He publicly addressed allegations made by Gachagua regarding an alleged assassination plot involving a police unit, dismissing the allegations as politically motivated.
