Garissa residents get reliable electricity after upgrade - June 2026
The Kenyan government has undertaken a significant upgrade of the Kenya Power substation in Garissa, aiming to permanently resolve chronic power outages that have plagued the region. Residents of Garissa town and its environs will now enjoy uninterrupted electricity supply following the commissioning of a new transformer. Approximately 3,000 residents of Gichugu have also been connected to electricity after a prolonged wait spanning many years, ensuring a more reliable electricity supply for residents and businesses in both areas.
