Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dismissed claims of government intimidation, asserting that the opposition will unveil its presidential candidate for 2027. This announcement comes amid ongoing public discourse regarding the political landscape and upcoming elections. Meanwhile, opposition leaders Dr Fred Matiang'i, Martha Karua, and James Orengo have declared that the selection of their presidential flag bearer will not be a secretive process but an inclusive one involving public consultation. Separately, the Orange Democratic Movement party is accused of abandoning its founding principles of fighting state abuse, with its stalwarts reportedly now supporting President William Ruto's alleged repressive tactics.
