• The IEBC wants prosecutorial powers for election-related offenses, currently held by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

• The IEBC also proposes increasing the voter limit per polling station from 700 to 800, citing faster voter identification machines and improved voter education.

The National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) has urged the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to intensify peace efforts ahead of the 2027 General Election, warning of potential violence.

• NCCK Secretary General Rev. Canon Chris Kinyanjui cited historical precedent, noting that incumbency elections like the upcoming one have often been marked by "intense polarization, heavy electioneering, and violence."
• The NCCK proposed establishing a hate speech monitoring and rapid response mechanism, and working with community peace committees to identify financiers of violence.
• The NCIC, led by Chairperson Bishop Dr. Kepha Omae, welcomed the proposals and is planning a Peace Pledge for political leaders.
• The call comes amid recent incidents of political violence, including disruptions at church services and public forums.
