Chrome for Android is finally addressing an inconsistency with installed Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) that prevented them from rendering edge-to-edge, unlike regular browser tabs.

• Web Apps will now be able to extend content behind the Android status bar, similar to native apps.
• This bug was publicly documented as of March 2025 and acknowledged by Google’s Chrome Developer Relations engineer Bramus Van Damme on March 24, 2026.
• The update means installed PWAs will offer a more immersive user experience, making better use of modern phone displays.
