National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula is urging church leaders in Western Kenya to spearhead a massive voter registration drive ahead of the 2027 General Election.

• An estimated 746,000 eligible voters with national ID cards in Kakamega and Bungoma counties have not registered.
• The appeal was made during a funds drive at the ACK Diocese of Mumias in Nangili, Matungu Constituency.
• Wetang’ula also rallied support for President William Ruto, highlighting development projects in the region such as the revival of sugar factories and infrastructure upgrades.

President William Ruto hosted a delegation of Makueni County grassroots leaders, led by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse, at State House Nairobi. The leaders announced their move from the Wiper party to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

• The government is investing KSh10.6 billion to complete the Thwake Dam and KSh2.7 billion in roads within Makueni this financial year.
• Key figures include President William Ruto, MP Mwengi Mutuse, and Makueni County Senatorial aspirant Andrew Mutava Mulwa.

A faction of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders, known as the Linda Mwananchi movement, has conceded defeat in their bid to reclaim the party, citing its alignment with the Kenya Kwanza administration.

• The movement, led by Siaya Governor James Orengo, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, and Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, believes the party has strayed from the ideals of its late leader Raila Odinga.
• Despite their internal resistance, the leaders announced plans to strengthen the Linda Mwananchi movement independently.
• Senator Edwin Sifuna, recently removed from his position as Senate Deputy Minority Whip, was declared a potential "future national leader" by Governor Orengo.
