Sugarcane Farmers Urge President Ruto to Intervene in Sugar Board Dispute - July 2026

Sugarcane farmers from Western Kenya, Nyanza, and the Coast are calling on President William Ruto to step in and resolve an election dispute concerning the Kenya Sugar Board directors. Separately, farmers in Homa Bay County have started their rice harvest at the rehabilitated Ondago Swamp, with the government commencing purchases of the crop. Presidential candidate Eliud Owalo has also advocated for sustainable economic empowerment initiatives, condemning the practice of politicians offering handouts.
