Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is launching a strategic push to consolidate his influence in the Mt Kenya region using his Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) following a victory in the Ol Kalou by-election. Separately, Gachagua blamed President William Ruto's administration for the relocation of the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) activities from Nanyuki to Tanzania. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki called on the Mt Kenya region to maintain its solidarity with the Kenya Kwanza administration, assuring them of their strong position within the government.
