The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has issued strong rebuttals to allegations made by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who accused the agency of politically motivated investigations and involvement in enforced disappearances and police shootings. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen separately condemned Gachagua for alleging that contaminated jet fuel may have caused the helicopter crash that killed former Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng'eno, calling the claims 'insensitive and shameful'. National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohammed alleged that Gachagua threatened to resign, preventing President William Ruto from meeting with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu for mediation talks with Raila Odinga in 2023.
