Kenya's Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen announced an acceleration of security sector reforms aimed at enhancing public service delivery. This comes as Kenya is set to enhance oversight of its private security industry with new proposed regulations aimed at strengthening licensing, equipment control, and operationalizing a fidelity fund. Meanwhile, the Water Resources Authority has launched a crackdown on illegal gold miners along River Yala in Kakamega County, accusing them of polluting the waterway with dangerous chemicals.
