President William Ruto has announced significant development projects for Emurua Dikirr, including a new university and a major road upgrade.

• A total of Ksh1.2 billion has been allocated for the establishment of a new university.
• The university will be named in honour of the late Member of Parliament Johana Ng’eno.
• Construction of a new international Class B road linking Emurua Dikirr to the Rironi-Mau Summit corridor is slated to begin in October.

Two Kenyan tourism agencies, the Tourism Research Institute and the Tourism Finance Corporation, are set to be merged into the Kenya Tourism Board under a new Bill proposed in the National Assembly.

• The Tourism (Amendment) Bill, 2026, aims to streamline the management and marketing of the sector by consolidating functions to enhance efficiency and reduce public expenditure.
• The Bill is sponsored by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah.
• This move aligns with the government's policy of merging state corporations with overlapping mandates and seeks to improve operational efficiency and eliminate duplication in marketing efforts.

President William Ruto has announced that the Narok Airport, a Sh677 million facility aimed at boosting tourism, will be completed within two months. The airport is expected to enhance air connectivity to the Maasai Mara, a key wildlife destination.

• The airport will accommodate both domestic and international passengers and support scheduled flights from the Maasai Mara via Nairobi’s Wilson Airport.
• During his tour of Narok County, the President also launched several infrastructure projects, including road construction and a power station.
• Kenya aims to increase annual tourist arrivals to five million by 2028, with tourism identified as a crucial driver for job creation and economic growth.
