NCIC Investigates Politicians for Hate Speech Ahead of 2027 Election - September 2026

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku appeared before the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) for questioning over alleged hate speech. The investigation centers on remarks that reportedly threaten national unity ahead of the 2027 general election. Jubilee Party's National Assembly Majority Whip, Silvanus Osoro, has joined the growing list of politicians under investigation by NCIC for alleged incitement. Separately, Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has strongly cautioned against the divisive practice of political mobilisation along ethnic lines, advocating for unity ahead of the 2027 general election.
