Former Murang'a County Governor Mwangi Wa Iria and eight others have been charged afresh in the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court over an alleged fraud involving Ksh351,097,491.15. In a separate case, a former Machakos County Chief Officer has been charged by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for allegedly using fake academic certificates to secure employment and earn over KSh1.5 million. Members of the National Assembly Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) are also demanding a status audit of over Sh1 billion invested in 156 youth empowerment centres across Kenya, which have remained non-operational for three years.
