The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has issued a stern warning against inflammatory rhetoric as Kenya approaches the 2027 general election, urging political actors to exercise restraint in their public statements. Kenyan religious leaders and human rights organizations are expressing concerns regarding the preparedness of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission for the upcoming general election. IEBC Chair Erastus Ethekon stated that Kenya is not immune to ethnic and political violence. Narok leaders have condemned Mr. Wainaina for his remarks targeting those opposing Deputy President William Ruto, stating his utterances were divisive and undermined national unity. Meanwhile, leaders in Mbeere North have united to champion peace initiatives ahead of the 2027 general election.
