Standard Group Editor Abducted in Kenya - September 2026

Standard Group Associate Editor Alex Kiprotich was abducted by armed men along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway near Gilgil weighbridge and was later found alive near Masinga dam. Kenyan leaders and media associations, including the Kenya Editors Guild, have condemned the incident and demanded a thorough investigation, with journalists in Meru also staging protests expressing concerns over the safety of media professionals.
