Kenya has formed a Joint Task Team with Burundi, the UNHCR, and the IOM to address the humanitarian needs and rights of Burundian nationals following a crackdown on foreign traders. This comes as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly making inciteful remarks targeting Burundian nationals working and living in Kenya. In a separate development, another 32-year-old man was also arrested by Kenya's DCI for allegedly inciting ethnic hatred and violence against Burundian nationals through remarks made at a public event. The coordinated government response signals growing concern over tensions involving Burundian communities in Kenya.
