Algeria has abruptly severed diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates, citing "provocative or hostile" actions by Abu Dhabi. The move was announced on Thursday, with the UAE expressing hope for a temporary disruption. Separately, the African Union Commission dismissed a senior Burundian diplomat, Ambassador Fred Gateretse Ngoga, after he publicly criticized Kenya's treatment of Burundian traders during a crackdown on undocumented foreign nationals.
