President William Ruto is undertaking a five-day political blitz in Nyanza, a region historically dominated by Raila Odinga and his ODM party, in an apparent bid to break the opposition's long-standing political grip. The tour marks a significant political maneuver ahead of the 2027 General Election targeting a region historically aligned with the opposition. During his Kericho County development tour, Ruto urged unregistered voters to register and get voter cards to support his re-election bid in 2027. Separately, President Ruto has taken a swipe at Gideon Moi, accusing him of propping up the opposition while touting his administration's development record ahead of the August 10, 2027 General Election.
