El Niño Rains Prompt Evacuation and Flood Preparedness Measures - September 2026

Kenya is at risk of facing three types of flooding during the El Niño rainy season. Residents living in flood-prone areas of Malindi have been urged to relocate to safer grounds in anticipation of the El Niño rains. Similarly, residents of Budalangi are fearing being more affected by El Niño rains. Additionally, residents of Garissa are being urged to take advantage of the ongoing El Niño season by planting trees to protect and conserve the environment.
