UASU Issues Seven-Day Strike Notice as Universities Face Fresh Crisis Over CBA Implementation - September 2026

The Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) has issued a seven-day strike notice, signaling a fresh crisis in Kenyan universities due to stalled implementation of the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has also formally petitioned the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) to revise the allowances paid to teachers involved in national examinations. Separately, the Controller of Budget, Dr. Margaret Nyakang'o, has publicly questioned the accountability and transparency of various government agencies in their deployment of public resources.
