Police Arrest 61 Suspected Gang Members in Kitale - September 2026

Authorities in Kitale have apprehended 61 individuals suspected of being members of two rival criminal gangs accused of recent acts of terror against residents in the area. The arrests followed violent clashes between two rival gangs in the Premium and Shanti estates. In a separate incident, a police boss in Lumakanda has been arrested and charged with the alleged defilement of a 16-year-old girl, which has sparked concern and led to formal legal proceedings.
