Kenya and Japan are collaborating on a climate-smart irrigation plan to boost rice production in Taita Taveta county, aiming to develop a comprehensive master plan for water management and agricultural development. A joint delegation from Kenya's National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Kenya Police Service is undergoing intensive training in Japan to enhance traffic management and road safety systems, including digital speed cameras. Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology is promoting alternative food sources like crickets and snails amid fears of a looming food shortage in Kenya. These initiatives represent Kenya's partnerships with Japan across agriculture, food security, and infrastructure development. At the same time, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula has called for the establishment of a dedicated African Climate Change Fund to finance climate action, emphasizing the need for the continent to rely on domestic resources and robust legal frameworks rather than external aid.
