Multi-Agency Team Busts Transnational Fake Gold Syndicate in Nairobi - October 2026

A multi-agency team has successfully dismantled a sophisticated transnational fake gold and counterfeit currency syndicate operating along Mombasa Road in Nairobi. The operation targeted illegal activities related to counterfeit goods. At the same time, security officers including those from NACADA have raided shops suspected of selling illegal alcohol and unapproved cigarettes in Laare, Meru County. The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse arrested three individuals and confiscated thousands of bottles of illicit alcohol. Additionally, a multi-agency team has arrested three individuals in Meru following the seizure of suspected counterfeit alcohol, with the operation aimed at curbing the proliferation of illicit beverages in the region.
