The Social Health Authority (SHA) has selected six banks for remittances related to the new Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) deductions, as the government initiates the collection process from payslips starting October 2024.

• 2.75% is the deduction rate for the SHIF from salaried workers.
• Harry Kimtai, Principal Secretary of Medical Services, announced the decision following consultations with employers.
• Workers expressed concerns over high deductions, with one payslip revealing a deduction of Sh9,563 from a net pay of Sh211,126, which is significantly higher than other medical cover amounts.
