Members of Parliament are urging the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) to accelerate their investigation into claims that multinational corporations are discriminating against local truck drivers, a process that has been ongoing for years.

• An investigation was initiated in 2023 after allegations from the Kenya Transporters Association (KTA) that foreign firms dominate 90 percent of logistics contracts.
• Benard Shinali, Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Committee on Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, set a deadline of September 30 for the CAK to conclude their inquiry.
• The KTA accuses multinational companies of engaging in corruption and urges Parliament to impose regulations that favor local businesses.
