The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has launched a new digital platform for certificate verification to combat the use of fake academic documents.

• The platform is being piloted with the Public Service Commission for faster and more secure verification.
• Julius Bitok, Basic Education PS, emphasized this initiative aims to eliminate forged certificates and enhance document authentication.
• The move comes as the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission continues a crackdown on fake papers, with several prosecutions underway.
• The launch also included the Education Assessment Resource Centre (EARC), which aims to improve educational assessments and support educators.
