Pope Leo has established the new Catholic Diocese of Kapsabet, the 28th diocese in Kenya, and appointed Rt. Rev. John Kiplimo Lelei as its first bishop.

• The Diocese of Kapsabet is created from the existing Catholic Diocese of Eldoret and covers the entire Nandi County.
• John Kiplimo Lelei, aged 66, is the current Auxiliary Bishop of Eldoret and has a comprehensive background in theology and parish leadership.
• His extensive experience includes serving as the Rector of St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Nairobi from 2017 to 2023.
