Kenya has launched its first African implementation of the Responsible Sourcing Initiative, aiming to improve conditions for informal waste workers in the plastics recycling value chain.

• Kenya generates an estimated 983,000 tonnes of plastic waste annually, with only 8% recycled.
• The Circulate Initiative, funded by The Coca-Cola Foundation and IKEA Foundation, is leading the initiative in partnership with Mr. Green Africa.
• The project aims to integrate informal waste workers while enhancing transparency and improving working conditions in the recycling sector.
