Officers from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and the National Police Service arrested at least 17 proprietors in Makueni County on July 13 for violating various environmental regulations.

• 17 proprietors were apprehended during a crackdown in Wote, Tawa, Makindu, Kibwezi, and Kathonzweni.
• The operation was conducted by NEMA to ensure compliance with regulations such as obtaining an Effluent Discharge License (EDL) and conducting environmental audits.
• Two individuals have already been charged in court, while the others are awaiting arraignment.
