The Ministry of Agriculture in Kenya is launching an Integrated Agricultural Insurance Programme aimed at protecting smallholder farmers from climate-related risks, with a pilot phase starting on July 21.

• The programme will initially cover 250,000 farmers, costing Ksh7,000 per farmer.
• Mutahi Kagwe, the Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, emphasized its role in fostering food security.
• Farmers will be automatically enrolled through subsidized fertilizer distribution to enhance confidence in the program.
