The newly completed Sh2.6 billion Shimoni Fish Port in Kwale will remain unused for up to six months while the government seeks a private operator to manage the facility, which was recently handed over to the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

• The port was handed over to KPA by Southern Engineering Company (Seco).
• The tour of the port was led by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy Ali Hassan Joho.
• Fisherfolk and traders are facing delays before they can utilize the new facility.
