President William Ruto has appointed veteran humanitarian Abbas Gullet as the new Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) Board, effective July 25, 2025, for a three-year term. This appointment revokes that of Samier Muravvej, who has been reassigned to the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council.

• Gullet previously served for nearly two decades as Secretary-General of the Kenya Red Cross Society, where he established E-Plus, Kenya's largest ambulance service.
• His extensive humanitarian career includes being Vice President for Africa at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent.
• Gullet has received numerous accolades, including UN Person of the Year in Kenya in 2007 and recognition in Forbes Africa as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Africans.
