Gaza faces a critical shortage of specialized therapeutic food for severely malnourished children, with supplies of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) expected to run out by mid-August. This dire situation is jeopardizing the lives of thousands of children in the region.

• UNICEF projects current RUTF supplies can only treat 3,000 children, while 5,000 were treated for acute malnutrition in the first two weeks of July alone.
• Spokesperson for UNICEF in Amman, Jordan, Salim Oweis, highlighted the impending depletion of crucial therapeutic supplies.
• From April to mid-July, 20,504 children were admitted with acute malnutrition, with 3,247 suffering from severe acute malnutrition—nearly triple the number from the first three months of the year.
