President William Ruto has enacted significant changes within Kenya's health sector by appointing new chairs to key institutions through a gazette notice dated Friday, July 25. These appointments are part of a strategy to bolster service delivery in public health.

• Samier Muravvej has been appointed non-executive chairperson of the Board of the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council for three years, effective immediately.
• Paul Ndungu Kariuki will serve as non-executive chairperson of the Kenya National Public Health Institute for three years, replacing David Ndegwa Nyokabi.
• Frederick Namenya Were is the new Chairperson of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council for three years, taking over from Stanley Khainga.
• Abbas Gullet, former Red Cross boss, was also appointed non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) Board, serving for three years starting July 25, 2025.
