The Kibera Law Courts has sentenced a man to death after he was found guilty of multiple serious offenses, including three counts of robbery with violence, three counts of rape, and one count of attempted rape. The verdict was delivered on Friday, July 25, by Senior Principal Magistrate Hon. Abdul, who noted the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

• The suspect lured victims by pretending to assist them in finding employment, picking them up on his motorbike under the guise of taking them to job interviews, before raping and robbing them at knifepoint in Ngong Forest.
• Police apprehended the man in the act during an operation, after establishing a pattern in his methods.
• While Kenya retains the death penalty, there is an unofficial moratorium on executions, with presidents often commuting death sentences to life imprisonment. In 2023, 131 new death sentences were handed down, and as of October 9, 2024, 166 persons were on death row.
