Kenyan activist Mwabili Mwagodi, reported missing since Wednesday in Dar es Salaam, was found dumped in a bush near Diani, Kwale County on Sunday morning. He was rushed to Pandya Hospital, Mombasa for a medical check-up before flying to Nairobi to reunite with his family.

• Mwabili walked approximately 3 kilometres before contacting his family.
• Upon presenting himself at a police station in Diani, Mwabili faced threats of detention but was released through the intervention of human rights officers.
• Family claims Mwabili, a vocal critic of the Kenya Kwanza government, had been under surveillance since October 2024 due to his involvement in the Gen Z protests.
