The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has introduced a new simplified process for undergraduate and TVET students to apply for subsequent loans using their mobile phones via the HELB App.

• Students can now apply for loans by downloading the HELB App, registering with a Safaricom line, creating a PIN, and following guided steps within the app.
• The application period for the 2025/2026 academic year loans and scholarships is open, with a deadline of August 31.
• First-time applicants should use the Higher Education Financing (HEF) portal, while continuing students can use the HELB mobile app or USSD code *642#.
