Former champions Malava High School and defending champions Cheptil High School secured wins in the opening day of the National Secondary School boys’ volleyball championships. In a significant upset, Coast Region’s Mwaluphamba Secondary School defeated 2023 national winner Ruthimitu Mixed.

• Malava High School returned to the national stage by beating Gankanga Secondary School in straight sets (25-20, 25-19, 25-10).
• Mwaluphamba Secondary School delivered a shock defeat to Ruthimitu Mixed in a five-set thriller (31-29, 25-23, 21-25, 17-25, 15-12).
• Defending champions Cheptil High School from Rift Valley beat Furaha Secondary School from North Eastern 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-17).
• In netball, former national champions Kaya Tiwi from Coast dominated Hon DM Amin 114-4, while St Joseph’s High School thumped Kajiampau Secondary School 96-9.
