The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), under Renson Ingonga, is facing scrutiny for allegedly failing to act on DCI recommendations to charge Kennedy Kalombotole in connection with the murder of Gilbert Kinyua at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on February 6, 2025. This failure reportedly led to a second murder at the facility.

• The DCI had identified Kalombotole as the prime suspect in Kinyua’s murder, who was Flux’s bedmate.
• Kalombotole was arrested on July 18 as the prime suspect in the brutal murder of Edward Maingi Ndegwa, another patient admitted to Ward 7B from July 11, 2025, at KNH.
• A hospital cleaner discovered blood oozing from Maingi Ndegwa’s neck around 2 pm on July 17; investigators found blood-stained slippers and a bedsheet, and a knife, linking Kalombotole to the scene.
