The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has addressed the controversy surrounding the nomination of Harold Kipchumba as the new Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)-nominated Member of Parliament, replacing Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi. Despite objections from some ODM leaders and the ODM Youth Wing who argued John Ketora was the rightful replacement, the IEBC clarified that Kipchumba's nomination adheres to legal requirements.

• The IEBC clarified that Harold Kimuge Kipchumba was the next qualified nominee of the same gender as Hon. Mbadi, according to the party list submitted on July 23, 2022.
• Harold Kipchumba was officially sworn-in on Tuesday, July 29, filling the seat under the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) category.
• The IEBC stated its decision was fully compliant with constitutional principles and statutory provisions, sending a formal response to ODM on Monday, July 28.
