Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has declared that former police and military officers who engage in lawlessness will face strict surveillance and the full force of the law, with no leniency granted. He condemned a disturbing trend of rogue ex-officers aligning with militia-like movements and misusing freedom of expression for threats.

• Murkomen made the remarks in Laikipia during the ongoing Jukwaa la Usalama tour, following the arrests of former prisons officer Jackson Kuria Kihara, alias Cop Shakur, and former KDF officer Patrick Nyambaka Osoi.
• He emphasized that ex-officers have a greater responsibility due to their specialized training in firearms by the Government of Kenya.
• Murkomen specifically warned against the militarization of political activities and urged the judiciary to act decisively when apprehending criminals, especially those involved in terrorism, organized crime, and armed violence.
