Major traffic disruptions are expected in Nairobi starting Sunday, August 3, due to road closures and diversions for the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN). These measures will affect several key roads as the Harambee Stars play their opening game against the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC) in Kasarani.
- Affected roads include Aerodrome Road (closed from Madaraka Roundabout to Bunyala Roundabout), and partial closures on Lang'ata Road between Madaraka and Lusaka roundabouts, and Mombasa Road from Lusaka Roundabout to Bunyala Roundabout.
- Nairobi traffic police boss Joseph Chirchir issued an alert advising motorists of these changes throughout the tournament, which runs until August 18.
- Diversions are in place, with motorists from Mombasa Road encouraged to use Likoni-Enterprise Road, and those from Lang'ata Road advised to use Raila Odinga Road or Muhoho Road.
